DAY 4

Another day of on/off rain and waterproofs. Went around the shops before catching a bus back to The Way. It was very much uphill to start, a nice path but steep. Although it wasn’t as misty today, there wasn’t a lot to see – soggy moorland and lots of reservoirs. Our only companions today were the very noisy curlews that seemed to be everywhere. We reached Top Withins at 2.35pm.where Mum played ‘Wuthering Heights’ on her mobile phone, which was better than her singing. The next few miles flew by and we reached our B&B at Stanbury just after 4pm. The German couple – Thorsten and Regine – who we had met on day 1 were also staying here. That evening in the pub, we celebrated Regine’s 36th birthday with a glass of wine. We walked back to the B&B with the sun finally shining.
