DAY 3
An earlier start and half an hours walk
back to The Way. It’s quite windy and 10 minutes later it’s raining again. The
waterproofs stayed on all day. We found a couple of messages from Tom and Mark
and finally caught up with them at the snack van on the A672. Two cups of tea
as we watched the transmitter keep disappearing into the mist. The Edlingtons
join us just before we set off, agreeing to meet for lunch in a warm, dry pub.
At the White House, Tom bought us a drink to celebrate his 66th
birthday and blew out the candle on his piece of cake. Going back out into the
wind and rain was a shock after lunch. As we got nearer to Stoodley Pike the
rain eased off and we got a reasonable view from a very windy platform on the
tower. We reached Hebden at 4.25pm and sadly parted from our friends – Tom and
Mark were going home and the Edlingtons were going further than us.
