DAY 14

We had to get up early today as it is our longest day of all – just over 19 miles and we’ve got the highest point today – Cross Fell (893m). It was very warm even early on and we had four peaks to climb – Cross Fell was the last one. This was the easy part. The hardest was The Corpse Road – I felt dead walking along it. It went on forever and my feet were so sore. We had a long rest at Garrigill – more tea but this time with a hot meat pie and strawberries. The last bit to Alston YHA was quite nice. It was a very long tiring day and I felt shattered. It rained in the evening and during the night too.
